I didn’t realize it, but when I chanced upon looking at the archives of my other blog, Papa Ces, I just realized that it has been already more than a year since I started that blog.

‘That’s great’ was the first thing that entered my mind, but also not so great because that blog, although I enjoy updating it, has no coherence or no niche that it works on. Maybe someday I can think of a niche that I would like that blog to focus on. For the meantime, I’ll just let it be a hodge-podge of anything that I’d like to post.

In about a couple of weeks from now, I will be fully working as a full-time copywriter. As a freelance copywriter, I intend to put into good use all of my experience writing copy for both the Internet and the print media. I am particularly more experienced in writing articles and a few ads and advertorials. But I also want to dabble into writing sales letters and other marketing collaterals.

As a freelance copywriter from the Philippines, I know have both some advantages and disadvantages from other copywriters in the western hemisphere. One advantage is that I can afford to charge cheaper rates because the cost of living in this country is not that high as in the United States. On the other hand, one disadvantage that I foresee is that some clients would think that my English grammar or writing style will not be as good as those who are natural, native English speakers. In that aspect I of course completely disagree.

I write and think in English. I am a graduate of Journalism from a school wherein English is the primary language. All of my writing experience are for the English language. In my own right, I am a capable and well-experience freelance copywriter.

But can you do that on a regular basis at home?

Most of us, especially those who have hectic work schedules, seldom are able to eat nutritious meals. People would often opt for fastfood fares of hamburgers, pizzas, ramen noodles and other starchy, greasy, and sugary foods. Do you think if we continue living that way we can expect to live a long and quality life?

It is important that in our homes, we eat the right and healthy food. Choosing the best ingredients is just part of it. Making it a habit to cook healthy meals and eat at home should always be a priority.

I can’t believe it has been 7 months since I have updated this blog. Could it be because nothing exciting has been happening into my life these past months that I didn’t even bother to post anything on this personal blog of mine? I sure hope I’m wrong.

My main reason is that I have been busy maintaining and updating my other blogs: my Sagada blog and also my website writing, SEO writing and copy writing blog.

I hope I get to revitalize this blog which I started back in 2007.

Here we are, all Emerson employees, taking our group shot on the last day of our Core Skills Training.

I learned a lot from our 10-day training about American accent, pronunciation, speech, and all those factors that I need to improve on to be a better conversationalist.

Emerson is launching its School of Excellence today and I am going to attend it. We are all expecting more trainings in the following months.

This is Landi and she’s Nhil’s dog. Landi doesn’t like me which baffles me because I’m a very lovable mutt errr… person. Why do I think that she doesn’t dig me?

That’s why. Just look at her. That’s how a dog looks at you when she has sniffed your whole being and doesn’t like what she smelt.

Actually, after I took that shot she barked at me (as she always do) and wanted to chase me away. Good thing Nhil was there to take her away.

Now this is Landi’s son. Still just a puppy. I’m sorry but I forgot his name. I was supposed to have him but at the last minute I decided not to because our place is very small and not really a good place to take care of a dog.

Anyway, this little chap is more lovable (like me). Very, very playful and keeps on chasing anything that moves (just like me!… kidding).

He especially loves playing with his mom!

Come this November, I will have my own place and I swear that I will have a dog there. I want a dog even though it scares me to death to take care of one. It’s not that I don’t want the rigors of having a dog, but it really pains me whenever a pet dies. Anyway, the friendship a dog brings is worth everything in this world so I will get a dog by this year’s end.

My girlfriend and I frequent Chef ‘d Angelo’s especially their branch in Robinsons Galleria. And the usual things that we order?

Baked Zitti and Big Bird. Also, we love their Caesar Salad, Butterscotch Cheesecake and Pepperoni Pizza.

Yum!  

I know that it’s all carbs but what else can I say? They’re delicious.

This is a Photoshopped photo of me put on Jollibee’s body. When my then 4-year old godson saw this photo, he blurted, ‘Ninong Jabee!’. My then co-workers (mostly graphic artists) then titled this as ‘Jawibi’.

He happened to be my kumpare. Nice one.

Yesterday, I decided to have a long-needed haircut. At the same time, I wanted to try this barbershop near our house. There’s nothing really outstanding about the place, it’s just that it’s the biggest and seems to be the most complete barbershop in the neighborhood. At P100 per haircut, it should be.

So I entered the shop and the receptionist motioned for me to sit on the empty barber’s chair. I only had to wait one minute before the barber she assigned to me approached and asked what cut I would prefer.

“Just barber’s cut,” I said.

The barber prepped me up starting with wrapping a clean white towel around my neck. Then when he reached for the pair of scissors, I saw that his whole right arm was heavily tattooed.

Images of prisoners, of riots, of gangsters quickly flashed before my eyes.

I asked myself why do I always stereotype people based on just superficial things, like tattoos. Just because a guy has a tattoo, does it mean he’s all bad news?

I knew that I had to get that wrong thinking out of my system, especially since the barber turned out to be one of the most polite and, quite surprisingly, gentle barbers I ever encountered.

I had a memorable stay with Trixan. It’s not because of the work, but because of the friends I gained.
